Required columns for your packaging data upload

When uploading your packaging data to our system, some columns must always be completed, while others are only required in certain situations.
Warning
If any required or conditionally required columns are left blank, the system will automatically set the component to a Red RAG with the Issue Type Missing Data.

Always Required Columns

These must be completed for every row in your spreadsheet:
  1. A: Unique Row Number – Whole number (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Must be unique per row.
  2. B: Date – Use dd/mm/yyyy format.
  3. C: Product Code – Your internal product code or SKU (text).
  4. D: Product Description – Description of the product (text).
  5. H: Packaging Layer – Enter primary or shipment (case-insensitive).
  6. I: Packaging Material – Enter one from the approved list (e.g. Aluminium, Fibre-based Composite, Glass, Other, Paper, etc.).
  7. J: Specific Material – More detailed material type from the approved list (e.g. Aluminium, Glass, Fibre-based Composite, Adhesive, Bagasse, etc.).
  8. K: Packaging Component Name – Name of the component from the approved list (e.g. Absorbent Pad, Actuator, Aerosol, Air Pockets, etc.).
  9. M: Number of individual components per layer? – Whole number.
  10. N: Weight of the Packaging Component (grams) – Number, can be decimal.
  11. S: OPRL Labelling (or valid take-back route?) – One of: Valid take-back scheme, Not Present, Check Local Recycling, etc.
  12. Y: Can the component be easily seperated by hand from another packaging component? – yes or no.
  13. Z: If No, please reference the Unique Row Number (column A) to which the component is attached? – yes or no.

Conditionally Required Columns per Material Type

Aluminium

Always Required Columns

  1. CR: Is the packaging component smaller than 300mm in any dimension, or can it be dismantled or folded below 300mm by a consumer? (AL) – yes or no (case-insensitive, accepts yes, no, Yes, No).
  2. CS: % non-aluminium content by weight? – Number, can be decimal.
Fibre-Based Composite - Liquid Food/Drink & Other Liquids

Always Required Columns

  1. AT: Does the packaged product contain? – One of: Liquid food or drink, Other liquids, Other non-liquid products.
  2. AU: Is the packaging component smaller than 40x40mm? And can be attached to a larger component? (FBC) – One of: Over 40x40mm, yes, no (case-insensitive).
  3. AV: Does the packaging component contain any of the following materials? If so which? – One of: None, PE, PP, PET, Biodegradable polymers.
Fibre-Based Composite - Based Composites - Other Non-Liquids

Always Required Columns

  1. BA – Additional fillers, additives, or agents intentionally added? If so, which? – One of: None, urea/formaldehyde, urea/melamine.
  2. BB – Glass or carbon fibres intentionally added? If so, which? – One of: None, glass fibres, carbon fibres.
  3. BC – Two-sided lamination? – One of: yes, no, PE/paper/PP, PP/paper/PP, PET/paper/PET.
  4. BD – Two-sided wax coating? – yes or no.
  5. BE – Does the packaging component have siliconising agents? (Fibre-based Composites) – yes or no.
  6. BF – Does the packaging component contain? (Fibre-based Composites) – One of: None, double-sided lamination, paper and board with glitter adhered to, greaseproof, silicone.
  7. BJ – Contains dispersion coatings? If so, which? – yes or no.
  8. BI – Contains internally adhered laminations? If so, which? – One of: None, PET, PET/PET.
  9. barrier_coatings – One of: None, EVOH, PVC, wax coatings.
  10. BK – Does the packaging component have aluminium foil laminations ≥ 6 microns thick? (FBC) – yes or no.
  11. BL – Barrier metallisation present? If so, which? – One of: None, direct metallisation, transfer metallisation.
Glass

Always Required Columns

    1. CL: Does the Glass packaging component contain? – One of: None, mirrored glass, heat-resistant or lead glass, decorative glass, glass with designed-in colour.
    2. CM: Does the packaging component contain any of the follow attributes? – One of: None of the below, attached ceramic swing stoppers, non-glass attachments/inserts other than labels.
    Paper or Card

    Always Required Columns

        1. AG: Does the packaging component contain? (PC) – One of: None, double-sided lamination, paper and board with glitter adhered to, greaseproof, silicone.
        2. AH: Is the packaging component smaller than 40x40mm? And can be attached to a larger component? (PC) – One of: Over 40x40mm, yes, no (case-insensitive).
        3. AI: % non-paper content by weight (not classified as a fibre-based composite) – Number, can be decimal.
        4. AJ: Fillers, additives, or agents intentionally added? If so, which? – One of: None, urea/formaldehyde, urea/melamine.
        5. AK: Glass or carbon fibres intentionally added? If so, which? – One of: None, glass fibres, carbon fibres.
        6. AL: Two-sided wax coatings? – yes or no.
        7. AM: Siliconising agents? – yes or no.
        8. AN: Contains non-wood fibres? If so, which? – One of: None, bagasse, palm fibre, rice straw, wheat straw, barley straw, oat straw, grass straw, flax, hemp, bamboo.
        9. AO: Contains internally adhered laminations? If so, which? – One of: None, PET, mPET, PET/PE.
        10. AP: Contains dispersion coatings? If so, which? – One of: None, PVDC, PVC, wax dispersions.
        11. AQ: Aluminium foil laminations ≥ 6 microns thick? – yes or no.
        12. AR: Barrier metallisation present? If so, which? – One of: None, direct metallisation, transfer metallisation.
        Plastic - Flexibles

        Always Required Columns

        1. BN: Masterbatch contains carbon-based pigment? (PL-F) – yes or no.
        2. BO: Contains aluminium foil layers – yes or no.
        3. BP: Polyolefin-based plastic film/bag with ≥ 80% PE or PP? – yes or no.
        4. BQ: Contains any of these materials? – One of: None, PET, PVC, PVDC, non-PE, and non-PP foamed polymer layers, oxo-degradable plastic, bio-degradable plastic.
        5. BR: Contains any of these additives? – One of: None, oxo-degradability additives, foamed thermoplastic non-polyolefin elastomers.
        6. BS: Uses lacquers/inks with PVC binders? – yes or no.
        7. BT: Density > 1g/cm³?– yes or no.
        8. BU: Is a label or sleeve attached to the packaging component? If so which? – One of: None, label, sleeve.
        9. BV: Does the packaging component use polyurethane, acrylic or natural rubber latex adhesives? If so which? – One of: None, polyurethane, acrylic, natural rubber latex, non-PE/non-PP based tie layers.
        10. BW: % of that adhesive of the total compoent weight? – Number, can be decimal.

            Steel

            Always Required Columns

            1. CO: Is the packaging component smaller than 300mm in any dimension, or can it be dismantled or folded below 300mm by a consumer? (ST) – yes or no (case-insensitive, accepts yes, no, Yes, No)
            2. CP: % non-steel content by weight? – Number, can be decimal.
